Talesity Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 23, 2026
1. Who We Are
Talesityis a mobile app that creates personalized bedtime stories for children, developed and operated by Tecurcity (“Tecurcity,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through Talesity, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights available to you and your child.
Talesityis intended for use by parents and legal guardians on behalf of their children. If you are a parent or guardian, please read this Policy carefully — it explains what happens to your child's information from the very first time you open the app, even before you create an account.
2. Scope of This Policy
Talesity is directed at families with young children, including children under the age of 13. Because of this, we comply with:
- The U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), which protects the personal information of children under 13;
- The UK Age Appropriate Design Code (“Children's Code”), which applies to any online service likely to be accessed by anyone under 18; and
- The UK GDPR and EU GDPR, where applicable.
We are also preparing for compliance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, ahead of its scheduled full enforcement.
Wherever this Policy refers to “your child,” it means the child on whose behalf you, the parent or legal guardian, are using Talesity.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information you provide about your child — before you create an account
When you first open Talesity, you can try your first couple of personalized stories without creating an account. To do this, we ask you (the parent/guardian) to enter:
- Your child's first name
- Your child's age
- Your child's gender
This happens before any sign-in or payment step exists. We collect this directly from the parent or guardian, not from the child.
3.2 Account information — to unlock more stories
To unlock more free stories (up to 5 in total), you'll need to create an account using one of the following sign-in methods:
- Email and password
- Sign in with Google
- Sign in with Apple
We collect the email address (and, where applicable, the name) associated with the sign-in method you choose, for account creation, authentication, and communicating with you about your subscription.
3.3 Information collected automatically
From your very first session — including before you create an account — we automatically collect:
- A Firebase installation identifier, which we use to recognize your app installation across sessions and for basic product analytics
- Basic app usage and analytics events (e.g., which screens are viewed, whether a free user later subscribes to a paid plan)
- A count of how many stories have been viewed, stored against your account (including the temporary anonymous account created when you first open the app), so we can apply your free-story allowance and prevent repeated free-allowance abuse
We do not use this information to serve targeted advertising to you or your child, and we do not combine it with data from outside sources for profiling purposes.
3.4 Payment information
Once you've used your free stories, you'll need to subscribe to keep using Talesity. Tecurcity does not collect, see, process, or store your credit card or other payment card details at any point. All payment is handled directly by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, using their own secure payment systems. We use RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service, solely to receive your subscription status (e.g., active, trial, expired, cancelled) — RevenueCat does not have access to your underlying card details either.
3.5 What we do not collect
We do not collect or request:
- Your child's last name
- Photographs or videos of your child
- Precise location data
- Contacts, microphone, or camera access
- Any social media account information
4. How We Use Your Child's Information
- Child's first name
- Inserted into the AI-generated audio narration of the story, and shown in on-screen narration captions. This is the only use of your child's name.
- Child's gender
- Used to select which pre-created story template (a “boy” or “girl” version) is shown. We do not generate images personalized to your specific child — the artwork is a fixed template shared across many users, not created using your child's name or any identifying detail.
- Child's age
- Collected so we can recommend age-appropriate stories and guide future content. It does not currently change the story text, is not combined with your child's name in the narration, and is not used for any other purpose.
- Parent's email / sign-in info
- Account authentication, account recovery, and communicating with you about your free stories, subscription, and any changes to this Policy.
- Device / Firebase identifier
- Recognizing your app installation across sessions and basic product analytics.
- Free-story count
- Stored against your account (including the temporary anonymous account created when you first open the app) to apply your free-story allowance — your first 2 stories are free, up to 5 with a free account, then a subscription is required.
We do not use your child's information to serve behavioral or targeted advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles of children.
5. Parental Notice and Consent
Before we collect your child's name, age, or gender — at the very start, before your child's first story — we show you a notice and require an affirmative action confirming:
☑ I am this child's parent or legal guardian.
☑ I consent to Talesityusing my child's first name, age, and gender to personalize the story narration and captions, as described in this Privacy Policy. This information will not be sold, and will not be shared with third parties for advertising purposes.
This notice-and-affirmation step tells you exactly what's collected and why before you provide it, and confirms you're the parent or guardian providing it — not your child.
Separately, when you choose to subscribe by providing a payment method through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, that transaction also serves as a recognized method of verifiable parental consent under COPPA for the ongoing collection and use of your child's information.
6. How We Share Information
We do not sell your or your child's personal information. We share information only with the following service providers, solely to operate Talesity:
- Google Firebase (Google Cloud, hosted in the US-Central region) — backend hosting, authentication, and analytics
- OpenAI (API) — used to help generate the story image templates used across the app
- Google Gemini (Gemini Flash) — used to generate the personalized audio narration that includes your child's first name
- RevenueCat — subscription status tracking (no access to card details)
- Apple App Store / Google Play Store — payment processing for subscriptions
These providers are only permitted to use the information to provide services to us, and not for their own independent purposes such as advertising.
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect the safety of a child, in each case limited to what's necessary for that purpose.
7. Children's Privacy — A Note for Parents (COPPA)
This section is specifically for parents and guardians, as required under COPPA.
What we collect from or about your child: your child's first name, age, and gender — provided by you, not your child — plus a device identifier collected automatically.
How it's used: exclusively to personalize the audio narration (name), select a gender-appropriate story template, and present age-appropriate stories, as described in Section 4. We do not enable your child to publicly post or share any personal information, and Talesity has no chat, comments, or social features.
Your rights as a parent:
- You can review the personal information we have collected about your child.
- You can ask us to delete your child's personal information.
- You can refuse to allow any further collection or use of your child's information, and revoke any consent previously given.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 15. We will not condition your child's participation in Talesity on the disclosure of more personal information than is reasonably necessary.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your child's name, age, and gender, and your account information, for as long as your account remains active. If you stop using Talesitywithout subscribing, we delete your child's name, age, and gender within 90 days of your last activity. If you delete your account, we delete your child's personal information within 90 days of your request, except where we are required to retain limited records (such as billing records) for legal or accounting purposes.
9. Your Rights
If you are in the United States: see your parental rights under COPPA in Section 7.
If you are in the UK or EU, you additionally have the right to:
- Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you or your child
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request erasure of your information
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Data portability
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office)
If you are in India: the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 is being phased in, with full operative provisions expected by mid-2027. We're aligning our practices ahead of that deadline, including verifiable consent for children's data.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 15.
10. Our Commitments Under the UK Children's Code
Because Talesityis likely to be accessed by children, we apply the following regardless of where you're located:
- Privacy by default— the highest privacy settings are applied automatically; there is nothing for a parent to manually configure to protect their child's data.
- No nudge techniques — we do not use design patterns intended to encourage children or parents to provide more information than necessary, or to weaken privacy protections.
- No profiling for advertising or marketing purposes.
- No links to external websites or social media from within the child-facing parts of the app.
11. Data Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit and restricted access to children's personal information within our systems. We maintain a written information security program appropriate to the sensitivity of the data we handle and our size and scope of operations.
12. International Data Transfers
Our backend infrastructure is hosted in the United States (Google Firebase, US-Central region). If you are accessing Talesity from the UK, EU, or elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. We take steps to ensure this transfer is conducted consistently with applicable data protection law.
13. Cookies on Our Website
Our website (talesity.com) may use essential cookies and basic analytics cookies to understand site performance. We do not use the website to collect personal information about children — the app itself, not the marketing website, is where information described in this Policy is collected.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change to how we collect, use, or share your child's personal information, we will notify you through the app or by email before the change takes effect. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this Policy reflects the most recent revision.
